Aaron Rasmussen is a 100% disabled U.S. Army veteran medically retired after sustaining injuries during his service in Iraq with Operation Iraqi Freedom. A proud native of Tuolumne Township in California’s Sierra foothills, he carries deep timber-industry roots that stretch at least four generations on both sides of his family. After his military career, Aaron dedicated more than a decade to community leadership and public service in his hometown—serving as Chairman and Mascot of the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee, elected Board Member and Treasurer of the Tuolumne Park and Recreation District, appointed member of the Tuolumne County Historic Preservation Review Commission, and in key roles with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Keith Dale Wann Post 4748 and state-level positions), the American Legion, Sonora Vets Helping Vets, and as co-host of the Tuolumne Legends podcast.
In 2026, Aaron relocated to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as an expat entrepreneur. There he founded Garden of Warriors Recovery, a mission-driven venture that helps American veterans, first responders, and travelers heal from trauma, PTSD, TBI, and service-related injuries. Drawing on his own journey of recovery—combining advanced therapies such as hyperbaric oxygen treatment with the restorative spirit of Vietnam—Aaron now guides others toward restoration, renewed purpose, and the warrior’s return.
As an author, Aaron brings raw authenticity, hard-won wisdom, and a storyteller’s heart to his work. His writing explores themes of resilience, personal transformation, community, the cost of service, and finding light after profound darkness. Whether through memoir, inspirational narrative, or fiction, he invites readers to witness history as it unfolds “between our eyes, ears, and heart.”
